We have been learning all about the festival of Diwali - 'The Festival of Lights'. We learnt about how it is celebrated, and listened to the story of Diwali. We made Diya lamps out of salt dough and tasted some Indian food, it was delicious!

Dowson Primary Academy recognised Children in Need by having a dress down day.

Year 6 had fun wearing clothes of their choice including pyjamas!

Year 3 have been studying a famous artist and replicating their work. 

Last week, Year 5 worked with Caroline as part of Tameside's Winter carnival. They made paper lanterns to take to the Northern Lights parade this weekend. 

In today’s lesson, we investigated the melting point of ice, butter and chocolate.

We used data loggers to precisely measure this.

Year 2 enjoyed predicting which microhabitat woodlice would prefer by using a choice chamber.

We had a fantastic day raising money for Children in Need. Pudsey would be proud!

Look at the delicious traditional Diwali sweets that we made in class. These are called Coconut Ladoo and are made from desiccated coconut and condensed milk. The sweets were super sweet but we enjoyed them as a special treat!

This week Year 1 attended a special assembly all about antibullying. We watched a story about somebody who was being verbally bullied and thought about what they could do. Our visitors were really impressed with our ideas!

Year 4 having been learning about how the particles are different in a solid a liquid and a gas.  We used a parachute and balls to see how the particles changed depending on their state.
