On Monday we look forward to our trip to Hyde Library, we would like as many parents/carers to come along and join in the experience. All children will need to bring in their Library card or fill in an application form, so that they are able to take a book home on the day.

Macmillan cake sale
A huge Thank you to all the parents that donated towards the Reception cake sale today. We raise just over £110 and the children had a great time baking the goodies.

African Art
This morning has been very exciting as we had a visit from Jade who works for The education Group.
Jade came with some wooden African Dan masks. The masks were made from albezian wood which comes from the Miracle Tree.

Phonics
Today we had our first session of RWI (Read, Write Inc), the children had a great time learning their first sound and practised writing it outside and in their books. The children met Fred the Frog and helped him to blend the sounds together to make words.

Don’t drop litter!
This week we have designed our own ‘Don’t drop litter’ posters, on Friday we went and displayed them in the forest area. We talked about how we can be good citizens and help look after the world around us.
Mystery reader
We have had our 1st Mystery Reader. We were all very surprised to find that it was our new Principal, Mrs Thornburn.
She read a wonderful book called We Love You Hugless Douglas by David Melling.

As we are a ‘Healthy School’ please do not send sweets in to school as staff will not be able to give them out. Instead we suggest you may want to send in a book, which can be shared many times with all the children and will be kept in the Birthday Box.
