This half term we have been finding out about Esther Mahlangu who is a South African Artist. Esther began painting at the age of 10 and was taught the skill of mural painting by her mother and grandmother. Inspired by her work we created our own African masks using the same colourful geometric patterns. First, we drew our designs, then used paper mache on our mask template, then added clay for the main features. Finally, we painted the masks adding the details from our original designs.
