Chinese New Year

 

We have done a lot of work on Chinese New Year in Nursery. We learnt all about the Chinese Animal race where the Emperor asked the animals to race across a river and the first 12 to get onto the other bank would have a year named after them. We thought about what we would see and eat in China and then discussed how Chinese New Year is celebrated with cleaning their houses, putting decorations, wearing new clothes and setting off fireworks. We set up a Chinese Restaurant in our role play area, built palaces and the Great Wall of China in our construction area and tried some Chinese food. We had lots of fun!
